The final day of the 30th Summer Universiade in Napoli

The South African swimming team successfully concluded the 30th Summer Universiade in Napoli with a total of five gold and one silver medal, as well as two new Championship Records.

During the final day of swimming action, Tatjana Schoenmaker improved on her 50m breaststroke semi-final time of 31.50 to conclude the race in 4th place, clocking 31.14, just 0.01secs behind Australia’s Chelsea Hodges in 31.13. The gold was claimed by Brazil’s Jhennifer Alves in 30.73 and the silver by the USA’s Sarah Marie Vasey in 30.81.

The South African Swimming Team will now be heading to Gwangju, South Korea, for the 18th FINA World Championships from 12th to 28th July 2019.
