A silver for Michael Houlie during the sixth day of the 30th Summer Universiade in Napoli

Michael Houlie scooped a silver medal during the sixth day of the 30th Summer Universiade, taking place at the Scandone Swimming Pool in Napoli, Italy.

In the 50m breaststroke, Houlie had to settle for the silver in the fast-pace final, touching the wall in 27.19 behind Russia’s Kirill Prigoda in 26.99 and ahead of the USA’s Ian Finnerty in 27.25.

Tatjana Schoenmaker celebrated her birthday by successfully qualifying for the 50m breaststroke final, finishing 7th in tonight’s semi-finals in 31.50, while in the heats session of the event, Kaylene Corbett finished in 23rd place in 32.37.

In the 200m backstroke final, Martin Binedell just missed out on a podium finish, touching the wall in 4th place in 1:58.02 behind the USA’s Clark Beach in 1:57.96.

During the morning heats session, Zane Waddell finished 24th in the 50m freestyle in 23.08, while Tayla Lovemore was 22nd in her respective 50m freestyle race, clocking 26.12.

The 30th Summer Universiade in Napoli concludes tomorrow.
