Nigeria Swimming Federation to hold open trials

President of Nigeria Aquatic Federation (NAF), Babatunde Fatai-Williams, on Monday said the Federation will open national trials ahead of the African Swimming Confederation (CANA) Zone 2 Championships.
Fatai-Williams told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the trials would hold in Lagos next week.
The NAF President said some of the swmmers who participated in the third edition of the National Youth Games (NYG) have been selected for the trials.
“I was at the NYG in Ilorin and found good swimmers who would be competing in trials any time next week ahead of the event.
“The trials will be in two categories of 13 to 14 years and 15 to 16 years, both in the male and female events,” he said.
Fatai-Williams, also the President of CANA Zone 2 which has West and Central African countries as members, was hopeful of a good outing in the tournament for the Nigerian teams.
NAN reports that swimmers from more than 10 countries would be participating in the continental event.
