Joffers lifts the lid on Durban 2022 facts…….. give that man a Bell’s

Jofferspic210 things you probably won’t see in the South African sports media if SA is stripped of the hosting rights for the Commonwealth Games. #Durban2022

1) SASCOC spent R118 million (that we know of in their financials) on the 2022 bid when Durban was the lone horse in the race. Edmonton, the only rival withdrew their bid in February 2015. Would be interesting to see who the beneficiaries of that R118 million were?

2) SA sent a full gravy plane delegation to Auckland, New Zealand for the 2022 host city announcement in September 2015. Must have been a surprise that Durban won! (sarcasm emoji)

3) National Lottery funds were used for the 2022 bid but no-one seems to want to tackle the blatant Lottery corruption? Just scratching the surface, where’s the SA Football Museum, which has now gotten close to R9 million from the Lottery? The Museum doesn’t exist! And how about the SACPO ‘sports project’ that got over R20 million from the Lottery? SACPO is the voluntary organisation of FET College Principals and their website has been under construction for the last four years! The beneficiaries have friends sitting on the Lottery Distribution agencies.

4) The Chairman of the Durban 2022 bid committee was SASCOC board member and now SARU president, Mark Alexander. So, SA rugby is in good hands! (sarcasm emoji)

5) I wrote to the Commonwealth Games Federation in August 2015 showing them that SA/SASCOC was not fit to host the Games and asked them if they had a Plan B? They responded two months later, only after awarding the Games to Durban. No Plan B with no guarantees SA would be able to fund the Games estimated at R8 billion?

6) Gideon Sam has been linked to a number of serious corruption allegations including the current social grants scandal. But he is still the SASCOC president and vice president of The Commonwealth Games Federation?

7) Who got a PR bid contract for 2022? Faizal Dawjee, a former media director in the Office of the President of SA. No nepotism, no!

8) Self-appointed, SASCOC CEO, Tubby Reddy earns over R2.4 million per annum and violated the SASCOC constitution for numerous years as president of Volleyball SA. The SASCOC board members get salaries in violation of the IOC charter.

9) Gupta appointed Sports Minister, Fikile Mbalula still uses dirty conduits eg. The Sports Trust to get millions out for personal use. (The Sports Trust partners include: Department of Sport and Recreation, SuperSport, Nedbank and Sun International)

10) SASCOC sued me for defamation almost four years ago for R21.1 million to try bully and silence me and suppress the truth about their corrupt practices. (They recently amended their claim to R11 million)

Durban 2022 would be just another great opportunity for corrupt officials to loot state coffers and enrich themselves as so many did with the 2010 FIFA World Cup!
